Salsa Cubana with Kirsten Klein and Charlie Pike
Thursdays, January 2-February 6
No Class January 23
Level 1 | 6:15-7:30 pm
Join us for a fun, lively series of beginner Salsa dancing set to great Latin music! In this workshop, you will learn the basic steps of salsa, partnering, turns, and some moves specific to Casino or Cuban Salsa all with a focus on getting you ready to move on the dance floor outside of class. The workshop is taught cumulatively, building upon what we learn each week, so it is most beneficial for you to join in from the first session onward. This class is great for total beginners as well as those with some salsa experience, and no partner is needed as we switch continuously throughout the class.
Level 2/3 Combo | 6:15-7:30 pm
This special series combines the essential, foundational moves of Cuban Salsa from Level 2 with the Level 3 partner moves created from those basics. This is a great chance to learn or solidify the Salsa Cubana fundamentals and to enjoy the fruits of your learning as we put those very moves together and start forming more complex patterns. We dance this level in a Rueda, though we still focus on how these moves translate to one-on-one social partner dancing outside of the Rueda format.
Enjoy great Salsa and Timba music while socializing, learning, and moving! No partner needed as we switch consistently throughout class. Students should be familiar with the Cuban Salsa terms such as: Par'abajo, Exhibela, Pa'l Medio, Enchufa, Guapea, and Dile Que No. PLEASE NOTE: Completion of the beginner Salsa Cubana level or instructor approval required.
