First…

a spring thank you to all who spent the time and provided your generosity during our annual Keep Us Dancing fundraiser. We concluded yesterday in celebration on The Center Green… the soon to be home of our summer tent! Ice cream (thanks again Moos!), movement and laughter brought us together. We are especially appreciative to our lead sponsor - Twenty Two HOME and to Streetfood for ‘parking’ it during the community festivities.

Each year your donation to Keep Us Dancing helps support:

  • subsidizing The School’s tuition for all students (tuition and ticket sales cover only 40% of the total cost),

  • financial aid for families in need,

  • professional dancers as our teaching staff,

  • world-class guest artists on stage and in our classrooms.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Our gratitude continues everyday. Now onto the summer ahead… together!

Please join us for DW’s own professional dance company, Contemporary Dance Wyoming (CDW), first live performances on June 18th & 19th! Tickets will be on sale at The Center Box Office from next Thursday, May 20th. Interested in joining the long standing DW Presenters’ Circle? Tickets to CDW are included in your membership. If you haven’t met our Development Director Michelle, introduce yourself here to find out more about being together in the Presenters’ Circle.

CDW has worked collaboratively with artists from major dance companies around the country and world, building repertoire that has been described as “visually stimulating, highly athletic and exhilarating”. CDW has toured throughout the Western region, as well as performing in New York City and travels statewide to offer performances and residencies in schools that educate communities about modern dance. CDW continues to grow in unexpected ways and adds a meaningful dimension to our community’s cultural history.

The CDW performance, A piece of orange, was what you just watched. A piece of orange was inspired by a T.S. Eliot quote:

We shall not cease from exploration

And the end of all our exploring

Will be to arrive where we started

And know the place for the first time.

In A piece of orange, the dance company members explored the interface of consciousness and our everyday path in reality. The spherical motion in which one is guided to a point and then to find themselves back in the place we started and remember that place as if it were the first time again.

Like A piece of orange, we all are beginning our re-emergence to what we once knew… being in person together. We hope to continue to inspire you next Sunday… and any day ahead that you choose to explore movement with DW!

Let us move youtogether!
